Perspective Articles
The Journal of Young Investigators are now accepting perspective articles! These will not be peer-reviewed, but will instead be reviewed by the editorial board. Submissions should be emailed to sre@jyi.org, and all submissions without all the required materials will be ignored
Required Perspective Article Format:
Title
Abstract: 150-250 word summary of the paper’s core viewpoint, problem addressed, & main conclusion
Introduction
Context: Introduce the topic and why it is timely, debated, or of importance in some way
Position: Highlight existing literature and prevailing work or views in the field
Thesis / Scope: State your specific argument or novel interpretation
Body Paragraphs: The Arguments divided into logical subsections, Evidence with literature analysis and your insights or preliminary data, and Figures & Tables.
Discussion & Implications
Impact: Explore the implications of your perspective and contribution
Propose future directions, policy changes, or practices
Conclusion of primary arguments and restatement of significance of the perspective paper’s work
Perspective Manuscript Submission Checklist

When submitting your article to JYI, please ensure you have completed or included all of the following:
[OPTIONAL but Recommended:] Submit a Concept Note as per the guidelines detailed above, BEFORE submitting a full perspective paper with the required materials outlined in this checklist.
Title and Abstract (150 - 250 words).
Manuscript (1,500 - 2,500 words) adhering to the Required Perspective Article Format section.
All required sections: Introduction (Context, Position, Thesis / Scope), Evidence-based Arguments, Discussion & Implications, Conclusion.
Minimum of 10 peer-reviewed references supporting your argument
Faculty mentor or supervisor approval of the completed manuscript.
Supervisor’s statement describing their expertise in the topic, confirming the author’s competency in the topic, and validating the manuscript’s accuracy and originality
Direct evidence of author expertise required.
CV/résumé AND/OR sufficient supporting materials such as prior research experience and relevant coursework through transcript excerpts or credible documents
(OPTIONAL) Figures, Tables, Videos with appropriate captions and citations.
